Job Summary:

Responsible for executing order fulfillment, shipping quotes, logistics documentation, shipping, and support tasks related to domestic and international supply chain and importing and exporting needs. Position will assist our Materials Team, Operations/Shipping Expeditor and the Logistics/Exports Manager within our Shipping Departments. Perform various functions which cut across incoming and outgoing shipment processing. In addition, works with shipping vendors, coordinates returns of merchandise and manages shipping files.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for processing/maintaining:
  • daily truck transfers coordination;
  • inbound/outbound shipping reports;
  • daily job receipts (maintaining allocations for jobs to sales orders); and
  • shipping supply inventory/stock.
  1. Assist with:
  • prepping, packing and preparing shipments for transport for outbound domestic and international shipments, via FedEx, UPS, DHL and or Freight carriers including the processing of shipping documents (Bill of Lading, packing lists and labels);
  • making shipping arrangements with US Government transportation offices (currently DCMA Harford, CT) for the transportation of military shipments;
  • entering data into WAWF (US Government Wide Area Workflow) as required by contract; and
  • preparing government required RFID and Unit ID labels as required by contact, and communicate with third party vendors.
  1. Handle daily logistics operation and closely communicating with related departments to ensure timely shipping and delivery.
  2. Perform track and trace of order movements through various sources and develop tracking reports to manager and the team.
  3. Effectively communicate transportation related issues across the organization and follow through to ensure timely and effective solutions.
  4. Monitor forecasted and actual shipment volume for his/her own operation and adjust capacity planning to balance cost and on-time delivery.
  5. Develop and maintain SOP for his/her logistics operation.
  6. Regularly evaluate delivery performance and analyze cost for improvement.
  7. Review freight and maintenance invoices and work with Finance to ensure timely payment. Inventory management – receipt/entry in Company system.
  8. Inventory reconciliations.
  9. Release of orders to manufacturing and warehouses – customer shipments and stock transfers.
  10. Performs data entry when required.
  11. Performs required record/document keeping.
  12. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
  13. Follows company rules and procedures.


Must be US citizen or Permanent Resident or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3) (Export Control requirement)


  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Distribution, or related field of study preferred or relevant experience in Operations and Shipping


  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in transportation / logistics / inventory management
  • 2 years International Logistics/Export experience preferred
  • Knowledge of shipping processes and metrics


  • Strong coordination skills
  • Must be a self-starter attitude with proactive, results-oriented focus; and willing and capable to assume additional responsibilities
  • Ability to prioritize multiple time-sensitive tasks
  • Work well in a team environment while at the same time possess the skill to work independently as needed
  • Must successfully act and foster successful team outcomes (i.e “be a team player)
  • Must have attention to details. Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Good time management, organizational and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to multitask
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of software products, e.g. Excel, Word, etc., with strong proficiency in Excel

  • Displays strong sense of urgency and sense of responsibility by completing orders with prioritization, follow-up, and timeliness

The position requires that the employee be regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.  The employee is frequently required to use hands to fingers such as with a keyboard.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk and/or reach with hands and arms.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move greater than 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities include close, distance, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: (*)

The work environment for this job is in a general office setting.  The noise level is normally quiet to moderate due to some office equipment and office traffic. Occasionally, when in the plant, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; caustic or toxic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
