JOB SUMMARY:
Assembles, rigs and tests parachutes
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Parachute rigging
- Parachute testing
- On-aircraft support (As a member of flight crew)
- Equipment assembly
- Make parachute descents as necessary
- Correct and adjust chute using sewing machine
- Follows company policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned/needed to support the organization and department
QUALIFICATIONS:
- FAA Riggers License is required
- Explosives Training Certificate is required before the use of explosives
- Skydiving License (or equivalent) and currency is required before performing parachute descents
- Operational knowledge of parachutes and parachute descent is required.
- Expert knowledge of parachute rigging and testing
- Required knowledge of tools and instruments includes rigging tools, powered tools, workshop tools, skydiving rigs, cameras and other test equipment
- Operational knowledge of the use of deployment explosives
- Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
- Writes reports
- Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Computes rate, ratio, and percent
- Carries out instructions in written, oral, or diagram formats
- Knowledge of internet, Access, spreadsheet and word processing software.
- U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or otherwise able to review all export-controlled technical information
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- 1 year certificate from college or technical school above high school
- Military or commercial rigging experience, military jumpmaster / loadmaster experience is preferred
ITAR Requirements: To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
