Summary:

This position assembles, rigs, and tests parachutes.

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Parachute rigging.
  • Parachute testing.
  • On-aircraft support (as a member of flight crew).
  • Equipment assembly.
  • Make parachute descents as necessary.
  • Correct and adjust chute using sewing machine.
  • Ability to train/guide incoming personnel.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Follows company policies and procedures.

 

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year certificate from college or technical school above high school.
  • Military or commercial rigging experienced, military jumpmaster / loadmaster experience is preferred.
  • FAA Riggers License is required.
  • Skydiving License (or equivalent) and currency is required before performing parachute descents or demonstrated Trainer skills.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of FAA regulations and guidelines.
  • Explosives Training Certificate is required before the use of explosives.
  • Operational knowledge of the use of deployment explosives.
  • Operational knowledge of parachutes and parachute descent is required.
  • Expert knowledge of parachute rigging and testing.
  • Required knowledge of tools and instruments includes rigging tools, powered tools, workshop tools, skydiving rigs, cameras and other test equipment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet.
  • Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Writes reports.
  • Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Computes rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work with precision.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Carries out instructions in written, oral, or diagram formats.
  • Problem solver, able to work under time sensitive circumstances, collaboratively or independently, and take initiative to address situations before issues arise.
  • Flexible, cooperative and collaborative; demonstrating ability to adapt to changing US government, customer and company conditions.
  • Knowledge of internet, Access, spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy equipment.
  • U.S. Persons or otherwise able to review all export-controlled technical information.

Travel Requirements:

Periodic travel may be required to support project functions such as supplier visits, product testing, and technical customer meetings.

 

ITAR Requirements:

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

 

Physical Demands: (*)

The position requires that the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel.  The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

 

Work Environment: (*)

This position will require a working environment mix comprised of office, shop floor, field and customer locations (both domestic and international). While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office; static electricity and explosives (in test conditions). The noise level is normally moderate may be occasionally high.

Salary: $40.00 – $53.00 per hour
