Electrical & Software Engineer

Position Summary:

Responsible for the design, development, testing, and implementation of software and electronic systems supporting parachute products. Contributes across the full product lifecycle, including requirements analysis, development, validation, and production support.

Works independently on assigned tasks while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions, including embedded software, firmware, and application-level systems. Applies knowledge of software technologies and business processes to improve system performance and reliability.

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyze and review system and software requirements, including hardware interfaces.
  • Perform requirements analysis, risk assessment, and support reliability evaluations.
  • Design, develop, test, and debug software across multiple platforms and environments.
  • Apply object-oriented design principles and standard development practices.
  • Develop and optimize embedded software and firmware.
  • Create and maintain software and hardware simulations.
  • Develop and execute system testing and validation procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software and system-level issues.
  • Modify and enhance existing software to improve performance, usability, and compatibility.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, including design specs and test procedures.
  • Support production, quality assurance, and fielded product issues.
  • Inspect, test, and support electronic components and assemblies, including software updates and calibration when required.
  • Diagnose and repair system or component-level issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to meet project goals
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Follows company rules and procedures.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience in software or embedded systems development.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C and/or C++ preferred.

 

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with operating systems such as Linux and Windows.
  • Working knowledge of embedded systems, firmware development, or real-time systems.
  • Familiarity with avionics, control systems, or similar regulated environments is a plus.
  • Understanding of electronic hardware, including circuit boards, processors, and related components.
  • Ability to analyze problems and implement effective technical solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
  • Experience supporting testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel as required.

 

Travel Requirements:

Periodic travel may be required to support project functions such as supplier visits, product testing, and technical customer meetings.

 

ITAR Requirements:

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

 

Physical Demands: (*)

The position requires that the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel.  The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: (*)

This position will require a working environment mix comprised of office, shop floor, field and customer locations (both domestic and international). While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to static electricity; explosives in test conditions; fumes; airborne particles; outside weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office. The noise level is normally moderate may be occasionally high.
