Position Summary:

Supports and facilitates the efficient preparation and execution of shipments from Airborne Systems facilities and assists with the coordination of shipment logistics to and from Airborne Systems partner sites. Assists with overall warehouse operations, receiving and stowing, picking and packing, shipping, and documentation. Monitors the safety and security of goods and materials. Ensures shipping protocols and documentation meet required regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) or special handling.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists with receipt, verification and distribution of all incoming materials and finished goods in accordance with establishes procedures
  • Assists with the preparation of shipments and coordination of shipments to final destination.
  • Visually reviews stock levels and physically count designated items at set periodic intervals.
  • Assists with the loading and unloading of materials within the warehouse or storage facility and handling, storage and shipment of HAZMAT equipment.
  • Interacts closely with requestors, Logistics personnel, Materials personnel, Facilities personnel, and couriers to meet the shipment schedule in a safe and compliant manner and act as an expeditor to meet challenging schedules with needed.
  • Utilizes hand trucks, forklifts, or other handling equipment to move material with the warehouse or storage facility.
  • Ensure that items are shipped via the appropriate mode of transportation, and that all documentation required for shipping via that mode is complete and in order.
  • Construct special shipping containers if required, using hand and power tools.
  • Prepare required reports (e.g. shipping, transfer, receiving) by the prescribed time.
  • Perform light maintenance duties as required, including the cleaning of areas of operation.
  • Fills requisitions.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Follows company rules and procedures.

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1-3 years of experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of shipping and packing processes and procedures.
  • Detail oriented and good with numbers.
  • Valid driver’s license. Driving record must meet and maintain applicable company standards for initial and continued employment.
  • Ability to work overtime when needed.
  • Forklift operator certification.
  • Ability to operate material handling motorized vehicles and equipment.
  • Knowledge of safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, as required, in a fast-paced, matrixed, team environment consisting of internal and external team members.
  • Demonstrates ability to build and develop effective and collaborative working relationships internally and externally.
  • Good communication skills required.
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills including the ability to support and prioritize multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with DOT / IATA / HAZMAT regulations for shipments.

Training Requirements:

On-the-job training:  Six months to one year.

Travel Requirements:

Periodic travel between sites may be required to support project functions and meetings.

ITAR Requirements:

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Physical Demands: (*)

The position requires that the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel.  The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: (*)

This position will require a working environment mix comprised of office, shop floor, field and customer locations (both domestic and international). While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to static electricity; explosives in test conditions; fumes; airborne particles; outside weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office. The noise level is normally moderate may be occasionally high.
