Position Summary:
This position completes the assembly and packing of parachutes for the Manufacturing department. Machinery and tools used for such tasks includes packing tools, rulers and other standard measuring devices as well as automatic bartackers.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Assemble and/or pack parachute systems, either personal or cargo.
- Perform inspection of components and in-process inspection during packing.
- Perform final inspection of parachute assemblies and prepare completed parachute for shipping.
- Assist the line assembly department in attaching lines to parachute canopies, using required knots and/or finger traps.
- Assist the line assembly department in bartacking lines in place using automatic machines.
- Assist the Quality department in receiving AGUs.
- Complete all required record keeping, including time sheets, traceability forms, etc.
- Train new parachute riggers, with or without packing/rigging experience.
- Document instructional data.
- Provide training to military customers, whether on-site or off-site.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
- Follows company rules and procedures.
Education & Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Must have military/sport parachute packing experience.
Qualifications:
- FAA Senior Parachute Rigger Rating (FAA Master Rigger Rating preferred).
- USPA Class D Sport Parachute license preferred.
- Must have military/sport parachute jumping experience.
- Good computer skills are recommended.
- Basic electronic knowledge is helpful.
- Written and oral communication skills.
- Willingness to work overtime as needed is also a requirement.
Travel Requirements:
Occasional travel may be required to support project functions such as product testing and customer training.

The position requires that the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: (*)
This position will require a working environment mix comprised of shop floor, field and customer locations (both domestic and international). While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to static electricity; explosives in test conditions; fumes; airborne particles; outside weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office. The noise level is normally moderate may be occasionally high.
