Position Summary:

This position has broad responsibilities to lead and manage the inside sales process. Delivers quality (accurate, complete, clear, compelling) proposals with appropriate documentation to Airborne Systems’ customers in a timely, cost effective manner. Ensures contracts are properly reviewed and coordinated with all organizations within Airborne Systems and ensure products are delivered to the customer as required by the contract. Support the Sales and Production Teams in meeting requirements for customer needs and deadlines.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Proposal Preparation:
    • Identify all proposal requirements, schedules, and unique terms and communicate these requirements to all functions involved with proposal preparation.
    • Lead proposal kick-off meetings, proposal review meetings, etc. to ensure all functions are working toward the common goal.
    • Prepare financial/cost/price data needed to develop bids/proposals.
    • Prepare quotes as well as large and complex proposals for requested items.
    • Prepare all related financial, trade compliance and regulatory documents (Agent/Reseller certifications, export or trade compliance documents, capital expenditures requests, etc.) to support proposal preparation and approval.
    • Review bids with contributing organizations and ensure all authorizing managers approve and sign.
    • Prepare proposal documents for price approval.
    • Coordinate the review of contract Terms and Conditions with others in the company as required.
    • Ensure compliance with TINA and requirements relative to certified cost or pricing data.
  • Sales Administration:
    • Coordinate with others in the department to ensure compliance with all export laws, terms and conditions, and all other contract requirements.
    • Maintain a data base/historical record of all proposals and research bid history as required.
    • Continuously improve the inside sales process to reduce costs and improve customer service.
  • Lead all internal activities required to meet contractual requirements:
    • Lead the transition from proposal to contract performance which includes the coordination of internal reviews of contracts, terms and condition flow down, planning, scheduling and coordination.
    • Enter bid information into Syspro system.
    • Attend the weekly production meeting to ensure all contract requirements are coordinated within the company.
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Follows company rules and procedures.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, related subject or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in sales administration or related fields.
  • Experience in U.S. Government and Commercial/International contracts administration including FAR/DFAR interpretation and financial analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent people management skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills required and must be able to lead/manage multiple tasks.
  • Proven leadership and management skills and must be comfortable working with several different organizations (Contracts and Compliance, Operations, Finance, etc.) to meet customer needs.
  • Bias for action.
  • Excellent writing skills and must be able to write proposals that are fully compliant with customer requests.
  • Operating knowledge of the FAR and DFAR.
  • Must be able to work in a rapidly changing environment where changes happen quickly and where customers require a quick response.
  • Gather and analyze information skillfully. Identify and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, managers, and employees.
  • Must have excellent skills in Excel and Microsoft Word with working knowledge in Syspro, PowerPoint, and Outlook software.
  • Limited domestic travel required.

Travel Requirements:

Occasional travel may be required to support team functions such as customer visits, internal sales meetings, and other relevant training activity.

ITAR Requirements:

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

The position requires that the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel.  The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: (*)

This position will require a working environment mix comprised of office, shop floor, field and customer locations (both domestic and international). While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to static electricity; explosives in test conditions; fumes; airborne particles; outside weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office. The noise level is normally moderate may be occasionally high.
