Rigging Assembler

Position Summary:

Rigs and assembles parachute systems. Requires either current security clearance or the ability to obtain security clearance. (You must have a clean criminal record to obtain one).

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Support Parachute Rigging Department with packing and assembly of mechanical, electrical and textile components.
  • Correctly lays out parachutes and various components using support equipment.
  • Use of hydraulic packing ram.
  • Use of Autoclave Oven.
  • Cuts patterns of various materials for assembly.
  • Prepares product for shipment.
  • Follows packing and assembly procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Follows company policies and procedures.

 

Education & Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Manufacturing and/or commercial assembly experience, working experience with various high tech equipment.

 

Qualifications:

  • General assembly of electrical, mechanical and textile components.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of shop mechanics.
  • Reads and interprets documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to use small tools such as needles, pins and clips.
  • Ability to tie a variety of knots with cord and thread.
  • Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides in all units of measurement, using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Computes rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Accurately measures with basic measuring instruments.
  • Carries out instructions in written, oral, or diagram formats.
  • Excellent manual dexterity – hand tacking of very lightweight fabrics/materials.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

The position requires that the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel.  The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: (*)

This position will require a working environment mix comprised of office and shop floor. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to static electricity; explosives in test conditions; fumes; airborne particles; outside weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office. The noise level is normally moderate may be occasionally high.

Pay Rate: $17.35 – $20.45/hr
