Position Summary:
This position will be a part of a dedicated group undertaking the design, development and testing of parachute recovery system components for aerospace applications. This involvement typically comprises the entire recovery system design cycle including conceptual design, prototyping, design analysis, drawing creation, technical documentation, qualification, and flight system integration. The Design Engineer I will receive training and mentorship from subject matter experts within the organization. Work in closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:
- Support the design and development of aerospace recovery systems.
- Design textiles and metallic parts to meet Airborne & customer requirements.
- Complete structural loads & margin analysis on hardware and soft-goods using standard hand calculation methods.
- Create, maintain and revise CAD models, drawings and documentation.
- Conduct material & system level tests.
- Collect, reduce, and report on test data.
- Interface with project engineers, peers, interdepartmental groups and vendors.

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering field.
- Requires 0 to 2 years of related experience.

Qualifications:
- Understanding of aerospace or mechanical engineering principles.
- Basic understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Basic understanding of systems engineering principles.
- Proficiency with CAD tools, AutoCAD and Solid Works preferred.
- Familiarity with modern programming languages such as Matlab, Python, or other similar applications.
- Proficiency using MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and MS Word.
- Solid understanding of mathematics.
- Must have technical understanding of Company mechanisms and products.
- Demonstrates initiative, professionalism, integrity, decisiveness and the ability to work independently.
- Attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.

Travel Requirements:
Periodic travel may be required to support project functions such as supplier visits, product testing, and technical customer meetings.

Work Environment: (*)
This position will require a working environment mix comprised of office, shop floor, field and customer locations (both domestic and international). While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to static electricity; explosives in test conditions; fumes; airborne particles; outside weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office. The noise level is normally moderate may be occasionally high.

Pay Range: $35.00 – $45.00/hour
