S&R Finance Manager

Position Summary:

The Space & Recovery Finance Manager leads financial planning and oversight of space programs and recovery initiatives. The role is responsible for driving program profitability, executing cost recovery strategies, and ensuring compliance with government regulations across complex, long-term contracts. The position partners closely with cross-functional teams to improve financial performance and support strategic decision-making.

 

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead financial planning, forecasting, and reporting for space programs, including cost, schedule, and performance tracking using Earned Value Management (EVM).
  • Drive cost recovery efforts, including contract modifications, claims, and turnaround strategies for underperforming programs.
  • Ensure compliance with FAR, CAS, and oversight agencies, including DCAA and DCMA.
  • Provide financial analysis, variance reporting, and actionable insights to support program and executive decision-making.
  • Support pricing, bidding, and proposal development for government contracts.
  • Partner with program management, engineering, supply chain, and contracts teams to align financial and operational objectives.
  • Strengthen financial processes, internal controls, and forecasting accuracy.
  • Lead risk and opportunity management activities, including mitigation and resolution planning.
  • Ensure adherence to department procedures and company policies.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Follows company rules and procedures.

 

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in an engineering services or product development environments.
  • 5+ years of relevant individual contributor experience.
  • 1 to 3 years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Project Management certification is preferred.

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of spacecraft design, manufacturing, integration, testing, and operations.
  • Solid foundation in engineering principles combined with financial and program management expertise.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability with experience planning and executing complex programs.
  • Proved ability to analyze and resolve complex technical and financial challenges.
  • Strong business acumen and knowledge of program management fundamentals.
  • Effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Highly analytical with sound judgment and decision-making capability.
  • Comfortable operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and project management tools (e.g., MS Project).
  • Track record of meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality results.

Travel Requirements:

Periodic travel may be required to support project functions such as supplier visits, product testing, and technical customer meetings.

 

ITAR Requirements:

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

The position requires that the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel.  The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: (*)

This position will require a working environment mix comprised of office, shop floor, field and customer locations (both domestic and international). While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to static electricity; explosives in test conditions; fumes; airborne particles; outside weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office. The noise level is normally moderate may be occasionally high.

Pay Range: $120k – $140k
