Position Summary:
Support Space & Recovery team members with ongoing recovery system projects.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
Functions of the position may include, but are not limited to:
- Assist with the design and development activities of aerospace recovery systems.
- Support systems engineering tasks, such as requirements and schedule tracking.
- Contribute to concept design trade studies and design-making decisions.
- Engage in prototype and development testing to support of recovery system design activities.
- Provide support for parachute drop test sessions, including preparation, planning, and execution of test events.
- Analyze test data and ensure proper documentation of test results.
- Document engineering designs, including drawings, reports, and manuals.
- Build rapid prototypes of designs, including fabrication and design iteration.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
- Follows company rules and procedures.
Education & Experience:
- Must be a Junior in a college Engineering program.
- Solid understanding of fundamental engineering principles relevant to their field (mechanical, aerospace, etc.).
- Completed relevant coursework in their engineering program. For example, courses in design, systems engineering, or simulations.
Qualifications:
- Experience with common engineering software tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CAD tools, or simulation software).
- Knowledge of mechanical drawing principles and practices.
- Experience in troubleshooting, analysis, and creative problem-solving through coursework or personal projects.
- Demonstrates initiative, professionalism, integrity, decisiveness, and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail in design, testing, or documentation, ensuring work accuracy and completeness.
- Self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to document technical designs, present findings, or explain complex concepts clearly.
- Exceptional time management and prioritization abilities.
- A passion for engineering with a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies, tools, and processes.

Travel Requirements:
Periodic travel may be required to support project functions such as supplier visits, product testing, and technical customer meetings.
ITAR Requirements:
To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

The position requires that the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Work Environment: (*)
This position will require a working environment mix comprised of office, shop floor, field and customer locations (both domestic and international). While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to static electricity; explosives in test conditions; fumes; airborne particles; outside weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office. The noise level is normally moderate may be occasionally high.
