Oxygen & Test Technician

Position Summary:

The Oxygen and Test Technician will work in the Oxygen Department at Airborne Systems. This department manufactures oxygen systems and supplementary equipment for HAHO military jumps. The technician will be responsible for the inspection and cleaning of parts, assembly, testing, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing of oxygen supply systems as well as any related parts.  Precision use of hand tools and equipment in a dust-free and clean working environment is required.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Inspects and measures materials, products, and work for conformance to specifications and standards
  • Accurately uses all standard measuring tools, including, but not limited to, rulers, calipers, and optical inspection tools (Keyence machine, microscopes).
  • Interprets blueprints, data, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures, and measuring instruments required.
  • Packages and labels oxygen systems parts and products in accordance with standard procedures. Responsible to ensure the transferring of items to proper locations.
  • Assembles, calibrates, and tests oxygen systems, masks and oxygen consoles; pressure tests oxygen consoles and systems.
  • Assembles and pressure tests hoses, sub-assemblies and related parts; services and cleans component parts; pulls stock for production, completes all documentation and computer data entries.
  • Maintains adherence to company policies, ISO quality operating procedures, safety standards, and good housekeeping/dust free environment practices.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Follows company rules and procedures.

Education & Experience:

  • High School diploma.
  • Trade school certificate desirable or equivalent related experience of 2 to 5 years.
  • 2 years quality inspection/assembly experience in manufacturing preferred.
  • Machine shop experience preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Capable of accurately using standard measuring tools.
  • Capable of reading and interpreting manufacturing drawings and work specification sheets.
  • Detail oriented and able to maintain high accuracy standards.
  • Proficient mechanical skills.
  • Must be able to organize, plan, and sequence work efficiently.
  • Experience driving box trucks a plus.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Training Requirements:

On-the job training:  From 9 to 12 months. Initial focus on inspection and minor assembly work, with later focus on more complex testing and assembly.

Travel Requirements:

Periodic travel may be required to support project functions such as supplier visits, product testing, and technical customer meetings.

ITAR Requirements:

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

The position requires that the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to handle or feel.  The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, and kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Vision requirements include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: (*)

This position will require a working environment mix comprised of office, shop floor, field and customer locations (both domestic and international). While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to static electricity; explosives in test conditions; fumes; airborne particles; outside weather conditions prevalent at the time and an air-conditioned and heated office. The noise level is normally moderate may be occasionally high.
